Word lists

With Vocabulary on Lexonik Cloud, words can be explicitly taught through the word lists app.

Building a word list

After running a successful vocabulary search and the word with the correct definition has been identified, it can be selected and added to a word list. Once all words have been selected, the list can be published and is then accessible from the word list app.

Once a list is published it is automatically available for all users on the organization to use. The word list app allows you to view your lists or org lists.

Please note: word lists are limited to a total of 6 words. Unpublished word lists will be lost after 30 days.

Managing word lists

Published word lists are accessible to all users of the same organization so the search functionality can be used to locate a specific word list as the bank of published word lists grows.

The search function can also find word lists by words contained within the list by using the following advanced search term “contains:’word’”

Teaching with a word list

Words can be explicitly taught via the word list application. Using the ‘teach’ view, you can switch between the words within the list and display the affix and definition information.

Syllabification of the word is indicated via red and blue font and emphasis should be placed on the correct pronunciation of the word by its individual syllable sounds.

The eye icon removes certain information from view. On the first click, the icon displays the word and the affix information. On the second click, the icon displays the word and its definition. On the third click,all information is removed from view allowing you to check learners’ spelling of the word. A fourth click of the icon will return all information to view.

Font size is automatically scaled up or down according to screen size of the device.
